Grampa, Dad, Danny


Typically, I find Sears portrait-style photos revolting, but this will always be one of my favorite pictures.



EDIT: Changed it around a bit in Photoshop, I think this one looks a bit better, less grainy with some color in it.

Gulf Coast Sunset


While everyone was hanging out at the pool I snuck off to take this picture. I remember once when I was young, if my memory serves me, that Grampa took Matt, Erika and me to the pier by the house at sunset. While the sun was just over the top of the horizon, he told us to turn around and count to 30. When we turned back to look at the horizon the sun was gone. I'm not sure if the lesson here is to appreciate the beauty or respect the ephemerality of life, so I prefer to do both.
On that occasion I believe I also kicked a tackle box of fishing supplies off the pier and into the Gulf. I still feel terrible about that...
Anyway, that's what I was thinking about that night.

Gramps' Blanket!
